After social networks, Riadh Belaïche takes his first steps in the cinema with “À la belle étoile”, which is released in cinemas on February 22. Brut interviewed him about his role.
Riadh Belaïche, known as Just Riadh on social networks, is making his film debut. He is featured in “Under the stars” by Sébastien Tulard, which will be released in cinemas this February 22. He plays Yazid Ichemrahen, a youngster who has become one of the best pastry chefs. On this occasion, Brut interviewed him. “I went through many phases. I watched Jamel Debbouze’s shows, I wanted to do stand-up… But as an actor, it’s true that it was in the back of my mind, but it was really something impossible. But afterwards, gradually, you see that the doors, they begin to open a little, quoi”, says the young man.
“It’s been since 2019 that I’ve been doing a lot, a lot of castings and really, that’s where I felt that… When I was doing castings, I was like: oh yeah, actually, comedy film casting, c is not the thing that pissed me off the most. I liked the fact of making films that were a little… well, less funny, stuff where you play with other emotions, and that made me love it. So me, in a corner of my head, I said to myself: ‘One day, I want to make these kinds of films.’ And yeah, today we did it”, he smiles.
“The light, it turns, that’s the game too”
In particular, he looks back on his first steps on social networks, as a content creator. “There is no number 1. It’s a musical chair. Everyone has their time. We’ll say the word ‘prime’. People, they use the word ‘prime’. ‘Yeah, he’s at his prime. Yeah, you were on your prime at the time.’ Everyone has their time. You know, the light, it comes on you, it’s your moment. You give all you can give. Afterwards, the light, it turns, that’s the game too.”
But for him, social media pushed him to be overcreative. “Before, I thought like that. Before, I was in this thing where I said to myself: mashed potatoes, it’s not good, I don’t do anything. Well, I’m not as present as the others and all. But, you can’t. You know, you are yourself, you can’t be someone else. You can’t want someone else’s place, do like him. Everyone has their strengths, everyone has their strengths. You have to stay where you are strong. You know, sometimes you want to go play on another court, but it’s not yours. And you’re going to do what he does, only less well.“
