The department has been on drought alert for three weeks.

In a lake in the Alpes-Maritimes, there was six meters of water at the same time last year. DThe limestone bands are visible, Monday March 28th. The lake is drying up week by week, due to the lack of precipitation. “We have fallen 25 cm below the lowest level, which was recorded in 2016”, worries Gilles Parodihead of the departmental natural parks department of the Alpes-Maritimes. The lake draws its water from the water tables, but they are at their lowest. Due to lack of rain this winter, they could not recharge.

The Alpes-Maritimes department has been on drought alert for three weeks. Eight municipalities have implemented restrictions on water consumption. Among the measures: prohibited from washing your car, filling your swimming pool or watering your lawn. The inhabitants are ready to make efforts to preserve groundwater. The return of the rain, expected from Wednesday March 30, should relieve them.
