In Dogman, the new film by Luc Besson, Caleb Landry Jones plays the main role, that of a disabled marginal who lives with his dogs. With Brut, he returned to the preparation for this role.
Texan actor Caleb Landry Jones shares something in common with Douglas, the character he plays in Dogman. It is his passion for theater that allows him “to become something other than the physical world does not allow him to be”. For the rest, the two men are very different. Douglas is a disabled misfit whose only family is the hundred dogs who live with him. “Douglas grew up amid chaos and violence” comments Caleb Landry Jones.
“By the grace of God and thanks to his dogs, he finally got through”
The actor looks back on preparing for the role: “Luc Besson introduced me to one of his friends, with whom he had already worked on Lucy, to discuss logistical questions. I met him and we talked in depth about the character in the film of Luc, how I could interpret him, what it would look like physically. Without him, it certainly wouldn’t have worked!” Caleb Landry Jones was fitted with prosthetic legs, the character having been shot in the back a few years previously. The Dogman film has been available in cinemas since September 27.
