Woman in the shadows, Virginie Besson-Silla is a producer. For over 20 years, she has been producing films that have been successful in cinemas. She was at the Deauville festival to present her latest film, “DogMan” directed by Luc Besson, her husband. “It’s true that I’m the wife of, but it’s true that no one ever tells me that I’m the producer of. I’m not sure there are many people who know that I’m a producer. But hey, it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t want to be in the spotlight so that suits me just fine”.

As a teenager, she dreamed of being an airplane pilot. It was by joining her actress sister who was filming a film in Guyana that she discovered the behind the scenes of a film and developed a passion for the world of cinema. “I came home, I said to my father: “That’s what I want to do: cinema.”” explains Virginie Besson-Silla. After studying business and marketing, she joined the world of cinema, starting by working in marketing, communications and foreign sales. In 2001, she produced her first film, “Yamakasi”, a huge cinema success and the start of a long career as a producer.
