Tony Valente is the first French mangaka to have been published in Japan. Currently at the Japan Tours Festival to meet his fans, he talks about his successful work: Radiant.

“Before, when I was around here, I did lots of festivals on a smaller scale or meetings in bookstores. It’s really important to meet the readers. Now I have very little opportunity, because I don’t live in France.”
At 37, Tony Valente is the one and only French mangaka to have been published in Japan. He is currently at the Japan Tours Festival to meet his fans and present his work.
To draw his characters, the manga author uses what he calls the “feather G”, recognized for its flexibility.
“When you push a little harder, it’s going to thicken… When you go fast, it’s going to be really thin and dynamic, and the tool that allows that feeling while you’re working. And it’s something that comes out the next time you read it.“
