Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, was invited to Brut. He spoke about inflation, the World Cup in Qatar, and his wearing of a turtleneck.

The Minister of the Economy spoke about the latest topics that have marked French news, and in particular about food price inflation. “Everything has increased, that, I’m not going to tell you otherwise”, admits the minister. “It will continue to rise in the months to come, simply because wholesale prices, that is to say the prices paid by producers, the agri-food industry, it works, it pays its bills, bills gas, electricity bills, supply is more expensive.”
The Minister also positioned himself vis-à-vis the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which is currently causing an ecological scandal. “I will watch the World Cup in Qatar and I will support the Blues, yes. But in the end, this is a question that we ask ourselves a little late. It was twelve years ago that we had to ask ourselves the question, when we awarded the World Cup to Qatar. It shocks people who wake up like this at the time of the World Cup”, thinks Bruno Le Maire.
The politician also backtracked on his statement to wear a turtleneck in the winter. “I didn’t make a recommendation, I didn’t tell people what they should do in their place, I don’t think that’s the role of politicians, and it goes off like a rocket“, he explains. “On the other hand, for us, our responsibility is the common good, it is the collective interest. It is my responsibility as a political leader. And I think that our collective interest is that, indeed, we heat less.”
