Claire and Laura were born under X in the 1990s. At the end of 2022, they discovered by chance the existence of an older sister, Marie-Anne, after carrying out a DNA test. They explain to us.
“We found our sister in three days. But we weren’t looking for it, we didn’t even know it existed!” Claire says. Born under X, Claire and her false twin sister, Laura, were adopted in 1999. At the end of 2022, they decided to take a DNA test todiscover (their) ethnic origins”. “This test revealed a big sister” specifies Claire. In online results, their sister appears under a pseudonym. Luckily, it’s this same nickname that she uses on certain social networks. After several messages and attempts, Claire finally manages to get in touch with her. “What I wrote to him was very short: “Hi! I just wanted to tell you that according to the site, we have DNA in common. Do you want to know more?” And she replied: “Hello, yes, with great pleasure.” And there, I said things directly: “Listen, we don’t have 5% DNA, we have 37.5%. According to the site, you are my sister.” She was super shocked, she told me: “But you know, I always knew I had a sister.””
“Actually, she is a member of our family who is not the daughter of our parents”
In January 2023, the three sisters meet for the first time: “It happened naturally, we had a lot in common. We got along really well. There was immediately a feeling. His family met ours. We have already done several family events together. In fact, she is a member of our family who is not our parents’ daughter” comments Claire. On the question of wanting to find their biological parents, Laura confides: “I think it would be the last missing piece of the puzzle. In my personal construction, I really need to forge a bond with these people. We have our parents, but it’s having the answers to our questions”. “We don’t have the answer and it’s a little frustrating” concludes Claire. At the start of 2023, DNA testing was banned in France.
