The film “L’Abbé Pierre, une vie de combats” directed by Frédéric Tellier was presented to the public in preview. Brut was there alongside Benjamin Lavernhe, who plays the main role.

He is one of the French people’s favorite personalities. The director Frédéric Tellier dedicated a biopic to him with the film “L’Abbé Pierre, une vie de combats”. “It’s not a film that wants to be a philosophical thinker, it’s the study of this character, who was a revolutionary, a fighter for goodness, so it must make you think” explains the French director. For Benjamin Lavernhe, who plays Abbé Pierre, it is “really a particular project. We want people to come out of this film a little changed, or at least with a reopened sensitivity.”.

“He’s almost a modern-day hero”

Abbé Pierre was a central figure in the fight against poverty in France. He notably created the Emmaüs movement, which offers housing, food and work to homeless people and people in difficulty. “He is almost a hero of modern times, who has made enormous progress, notably on the construction of compulsory social housing in most cities, on the winter break… He has made things change and, at the same time , the film is a bit terribly current” comments Benjamin Lavernhe. The release of the film in French cinemas is scheduled for November 8.
