At the end of September, Chilly Gonzales was in concert at the Olympia. The opportunity to follow this unclassifiable and extraordinary artist during the preparation of the event.
This year, the artist Chilly Gonzales released his first album in French, “French Kiss”. Why only now when he lived in France for 10 years? Because of the relationship the French have with their language. “They have a super intimate relationship with this language, they see a lot of their culture through a literary prism, particularly French literary song. And I found that there was no place for me. So there, I am starting to reconcile myself with French literature.”
On the scene, “I’m living my fantasy”
He performed this new album on September 23 and 24 at the Olympia. And he enjoyed these two consecutive dates: “It’s the second night of two concerts. We did the big job of settling in, we left everything here. I even have all my dressing gowns that were left in the dressing rooms. It’s a real luxury to play in the same place twice.”And what should audiences expect from his shows? “No one dresses up, but everyone lives out their fantasies. My principle on stage is that I live my fantasy, it is total impunity, it is to be a musical genius who has the right to be sensitive, fragile and arrogant, if he wants. A performance that his fans will be able to find on Sunday November 4 at La Gaîté Lyrique as part of the ARTE Concert Festival.
