Several references to Nicolas Sarkozy, François Mitterrand or even Philippe Poutou… But basically, what did Emmanuel Macron’s meeting look like?

Emmanuel Macron held his first and only meeting this Saturday April 2 at the U Arena, in Nanterre. The presidential candidate held a speech lasting more than two hours. There was a white-hot announcer, moments of fervor, moments of emotion… and staging. According to the organizers, 30,000 people were present with members or former members of the government. Also, climate activists were evacuated by the security service. Emmanuel Macron spoke like some of his predecessors, notably Nicolas Sarkozy and François Mitterrand.

He first defended his record by saying “We did it!” four times. Then he spoke to the right… and to the left: “Our lives, their lives are worth more than all the profits“, a slogan borrowed from the candidate Philippe Poutou, a choice denounced by the candidate in question. Then, Emmanuel Macron tried to speak to everyone: “Teachers”, “young people”, “elderly people”, “farmers”, “ self-employed”, “single mothers”, “caregivers”. He also announced new measures: “From this summer, I want to allow workers to be able to receive a purchasing power bonus of up to 6,000 euros without charges or taxes. He also announced a pension reform:So yes, I assume to tell you that you will have to work more (…) longer because we are living longer (…) Do not believe those who promise you retirement at 60 or 62.”

Finally, Emmanuel Macron attacked some of his opponents without ever naming them, he refused the whistles and he opposed the system… like 5 years ago.
