“After 6 years of effort…I finally found a doctor who listened to me!” Abby is a 25 year old American. Recently, she announced her sterilization on social networks, once again reopening the debate on the choice of having a child or not.
“People told me that I disgusted them, that they should take away my rights. Someone wrote to my boyfriend on Instagram saying he needed to find someone else to pass on his genes.
The young woman has always said that she does not want children. She first tried several contraceptive methods, before making the decision to perform sterilization.
“I realized that I was afraid of needles and all the foreign bodies that could enter me: IUDs, contraceptive rings, implants, injections.”
For 6 years now, she has been fighting to find a doctor who will agree to operate on her. “I had several interesting responses from doctors, like ‘You might change your mind, no one is forcing you to have a child if you don’t want it.’”
Thanks to her determination, Abby was able to have a sterilization on February 4. Her fallopian tubes were removed as was part of her uterine lining.
