VIDEO | Assault when leaving bars in Sainte-Foy; a 25-year-old man arrested

A 25-year-old man, known to police circles, was arrested following an armed attack outside bars in the Sainte-Foy district of Quebec early Thursday morning.

It was around 2:40 a.m. that the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) was called to go to La Pyramide de Sainte-Foy for a “major disorder”.

Images captured by a witness in front of the Plywood café-bar, an establishment frequented by several local students, show that a violent fight broke out between several individuals.

“Criss fucked with a knife man!”, we can hear on the video which was sent to the Journal.

Paramedics were also called to the scene, but fortunately no one was seriously injured. The main victim in this case, a 27-year-old, suffered only minor lacerations.

Famous person

According to a witness contacted by the Journal, the scuffle started shortly after one individual stabbed another. The person seen being beaten in the images is in fact the suspect behind the attack.

The latter, a 25-year-old man, was handcuffed for armed assault, assault with injury and breach of probation. He remained detained while awaiting his appearance at the Quebec courthouse on Thursday.

This is a person well known to the police.

The latter has served several prison sentences since he came of age, including for aggravated assault, threats, break-ins, negligent use of a firearm, arms trafficking and identity fraud.

Other arrests possible

The investigation continues, however, specifies SPVQ spokesperson Sandra Dion, specifying that other people could be arrested in this case.

The witness who provided the images to the Journal, a young man of 19, was himself involved in a second fight a few minutes later with the same individuals. He was arrested and then released by the authorities.

As several people were on site during the altercation, the police force must still meet several potential witnesses to clarify this whole matter.
