Accustomed to comedies, it is with the auteur film “A little brother” by Léonor Serraille, which Ahmed Sylla participated in his first Cannes Film Festival this year. For Brut, Jason Divengele spent some time with him.
“I have never been to Cannes. I have always said that Cannes, I reserve it for an important moment, when I have a film to defend. And there, I have more than one film to defend, it tells the story of my parents.
Accustomed to comedies, Ahmed Sylla climbs the steps of the Cannes Film Festival 2022 for the first time to present the auteur film “A little brother”, by Léonor Seraille.
The film traces the story of a mother and her two children, from the end of the 1980s to today, leaving Côte d’Ivoire to settle in France.
“There is a lot of the syndrome of the actor who makes popular comedies, of saying to himself “Ah, but I want to be taken seriously. I have an incredible chance, I can choose the projects in which I am. I work from the heart”.
