They present Pixar’s film, “Elementary”, at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Adèle Exarchopoulos and Vincent Lacoste talk about their dubbing experience.

Actors Vincent Lacoste and Adèle Exarchopoulos have lent their voices to the water and fire characters of the new Pixar, “Élémentaire”. An experiment “very different from a normal shoot” explains Vincent Lacoste. During a dubbing, the actors are alone in a cabin, with a stage manager. “There is another process in which you have to integrate” says Adele Exarchopoulos. The actress indicates that the emotions must be more “forced” than during a classic shoot, the character being carried in large part by the rhythm of the voice. These are also days of touring “intense”: “TAll day, we double, we redo things thirty times, it requires a pretty crazy concentration” comments Vincent Lacoste.

“1001 Pattes, Toy Story, these are films that formed me as a child”

In this new animated film, the actor embodies water, the actress fire, characters that echo certain roles they may have played during their careers. Vincent Lacoste describes his character as someone “quite emotional and very kind”. That of Adèle Exarchopoulos is different: “Her intentions are always good, but sometimes she doesn’t show up”. Both have always dreamed of participating in a Disney-Pixar production. “1001 Pattes, Toy Story, these are films that formed me as a child. I’ve been a huge Pixar fan since I was little.” confides the French actor. For Adèle Exarchopoulos, participating in this film represents “a dream”. “All my relatives can testify”.
