The relatives of this young man killed by a police officer had appealed for calm. A white march gathered nearly 800 people in the streets of Angoulême this Saturday morning.
In Angoulême, 800 people gathered on Saturday morning for a white march in tribute to Alhoussein Camara, a 19-year-old young man killed by a police officer overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. The demonstrators gathered on the field of march, to share their emotion and their anger.
Present in the procession, the Guinean ambassador made a point of speaking:“We are going through a difficult time with the loss of this young man in conditions not yet elucidated”he recalled. “Let’s trust justice, please, and demonstrate in calm, serenity and discipline.”
Our presence today is sufficient proof that we are here not only to support the community, and to ensure that justice is done, and once again, we have confidence in the justice of France.

In the white march, Mariama Kouyaté, Alhoussein Camara’s aunt also proclaimed her need to shed light on the death of her nephew: “Yesterday, we filed a complaint with the gendarmerie to seek justice. We need to know the real truth, why he died like that, because we have heard many versions, we want the real truth. “
Among the Angoumoisins and Angoumoisines who answered the call, some also came to protest against “police violence”: “We have the impression that there is an escalation”, said one of the protesters. “We always say to ourselves that it’s in Paris, it’s in Marseille, in the big cities, there it happens with us, we say to ourselves that it’s no longer possible, that something has to be done.”
Recall of facts
At 19, Alhoussein Camara died in Saint-Yrieix, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, fatally shot in the chest by a police officer. According to the public prosecutor of Angoulême and the Alliance police union, the young man refused to stop during a police check. Two investigations are underway, one for “refusal to comply and violence with a weapon” (his land vehicle being considered a weapon by destination), the other targets the police officer for “intentional homicide”.
