Four people, including three young police officers, died in a road accident at Villeneuve-d’Ascq (Nord) on Sunday, and two people were seriously injured. The accident took place while police-rescue officials were accompanying a victim, a minor, to the hospital, France Télévisions had learned on Sunday morning from a police source. According to the first elements of the investigation, the vehicle which struck that of the police officers was driving in the wrong direction. The driver, who tested positive for alcohol and cannabis, died and the vital prognosis of a passenger remained engaged, late Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, two employees of the CHU de Reims, a medical secretary and a nurse, were stabbed by a 59-year-old man in the hospital. The seriously injured nurse, whose name was Carène and was 38 years old, was taken care of by several surgeons in the operating room. She eventually succumbed to her injuries.
