The Angoulême Francophone Film Festival was from August 23 to 28, 2022. For the occasion, Brut reunited with Mallory Wanecque, 16, who starred in the film “Les Pires”. Between festivals and filming, the young woman recounts her new life as an artist, and how she started the cinema.
“It’s a film about the fact that young people from the northern districts of France encounter the world of cinema and therefore all its vagaries, a little”. “Les Pires” is a French film directed by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret. It tells the story of four teenagers: Lily, Ryan, Maylis and Jessy, chosen to play in a film whose shooting will take place in the city of Picasso, in Boulogne-Sur-Mer, in the north of France.
On the poster for the film “The Worst”, Brut reunited with Mallory Wanecque at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. At just 16 years old, the young woman was cast by the film crew in a rather original way. “So, I was in college, a totally normal day, and I was having a fight with a girl and then there were the casting directors who stopped me to ask me if I wanted to act in a film. So, since I had just gotten into a fight with a girl before, I thought it was her mother or her aunt or someone in her family who wanted my mother’s number, so I was skeptical.”
“I really enjoyed playing and the atmosphere there is in a shoot, it’s too good. And also, the love that I get, I’ve never gotten so much love, during festivals and stuff… So yeah, that’s so good, I really want to continue.” Among the fifty or so films screened, including ten in competition, “Les Pires” received the Valois de Diamant, the Festival’s highest distinction.
