The fires in Gironde have done considerable damage in a week. The fire, which is still not fixed, could well leave a sad trace in history. The numbers are impressive. Regarding the first fire, it has burned 4,300 hectares since July 13, which represents 9 kilometers out of 8, even crossing the road, a scenario which was feared by the firefighters. The Arcachon area is threatened by the 22 outbreaks of fire that takes place every day.

The fire at La Teste-de-Buch (Gironde) is not the only one to ravage the Gironde. To Landiras (Gironde)another hearth ignites the department. Fire started July 12, one day before the other outbreak. Here, the figures are even more dizzying, the flames have consumed 10,500 hectares, which represents 14 kilometers by 9. In total, the area devastated by the fires represents a territory as large as Paris and the inner suburbs, i.e. 150 km2. The evacuees numbered 32,000.
