Thursday, February 24, 2022, the couple made a remarkable exit in Stockholm. The heiress to the throne and her husband visited the Swedish Institute for European Political Studies.
Always displaying her best smile during her official outings, Princess Victoria’s unmistakable happy face was more discreet on Thursday… Her tone even looked very serious during her few exchanges with Prince Daniel ( see slideshow). It must be said that these last few weeks have been trying for the couple, plagued by strong rumors of separation. Since the beginning of the year, testimonies from “friends” and supporting bodyguards, the Swedish media Stoppa Pressarna insists that the parents of Princess Estelle (10 years old) and Prince Oscar (soon to be 6 years old) are on the verge of divorce, to the point of having started marital therapy. Parents of Princess Victoria, the King Carl XVI Gustaf and his wife Queen Sofia would even know… However, the denials could not have been firmer.
“We can clearly deny the information that the heir couple are divorcing. There is no divorce”, first replied the spokeswoman for the Royal Court, Margaretha Thorgren in early February. But that wasn’t enough. Victoria and Daniel were forced to come out of their silence and respond to this gossip in person: “Allegations are spreading about a betrayal in our marriage and an impending divorce. Normally we do not comment on rumors and speculations. But in order to protect our family, we want to make it clear, once and for all, that the rumors being spread are completely unfounded.“, they said on February 19. Provided that these rumors have not tainted the birthday of the adorable Princess Estelle, who looks good on her new official portrait celebrating her 10th birthday.
As a reminder, Princess Victoria began dating Daniel Westling, her former sports coach, in 2002. The couple’s engagement was announced by the royal palace in 2009 and a lavish wedding was celebrated in Stockholm on June 19, 2010.
