Victoria Abril became a “rentier” thanks to her salary in “Clem”

She was the iconic face of the series Clem, and carried it until his brutal dismissal in the spring of 2018. From February 2010 to April 2018, Victoria Abril played the much-loved character of Caroline Boissier in the series Clem, and for eight seasons opposite Philippe Lellouche, Lucie Lucas, Carole Richert, Laurent Gamelon, Agustin Galiana, Elodie Fontan, Mathieu Spinosi, Jean Dell, Jade Pradin, Rayane Bensetti, Annick Blancheteau and even Léa Lopez and Maëva Pasquali. Thanked by the authors who saw fit to kill her character brutally in a car accident, and to plunge the character of Clem into a coma for six years, Victoria Abril made her comeback in the series this Monday, November 6, 2023, on the occasion of a special unit called Reunionin which viewers were able to find one last time the character of Carodiscovering her last hours of life in Canada, where she had moved with Xavier, to open a restaurant.

In an interview given to Evening MagVictoria Abril only remembers the good things from her eight years spent in Clem’s heyday. “It’s a great recreation that lasted 10 years”rejoices the 64-year-old actress, who recognizes that the series has allowed her to put a nice jackpot aside, even to the point of becoming “rentier” : “I don’t do TV to do humanitarian work” she rightly justified, happy to have been able to work peacefully after turning fifty, which many women fear, both female actors and female presenters.

Would Caro’s death have killed the series?

The producer of ClemFabrice Renault, for his part admitted to France Info that the disappearance of the character of Caro was a script error that they quickly regretted: “What we actually regret is having made her die like that. She complained, rightly, to say that vis-à-vis her fans, the investment she gave on this show, she wasn’t treated well. She was right.”

It must be said that the audiences quickly proved the actress right, and Caro’s departure significantly caused the Clem series to decline. The last season with Victoria Abril united 4.63 million viewers in 2018. As of April 2019, season 9 dropped to 3.92 million viewers. The tenth season, which aired in September 2020, lost over a million fans, sinking to 2.81 million fans. An erosion that season 11 repaired, by regaining 600,000 fans, but season 12 achieved a real poor performance in spring 2022, plunging TF1 to 2.59 million fans. This Monday, November 6, the unit disappointed, by only bringing together 2.34 million fans for 21% of housewives. A failure which, for sure, seals the fate of this cult series.
