Victor Caratini in reinforcement at the Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers were quick to replace Pedro Severino. Just over 24 hours after the announcement of the Dominican’s 80-game suspension for doping, the team acquired Victor Caratini from the San Diego Padres.

In addition to Caratini, the Brewers are getting money from the California squad, which is getting its hands on receiver Brett Sullivan and outfielder Korry Howell.

Catarini, 28, will be in his sixth season in major league baseball. After four years of playing sporadically with the Chicago Cubs, he appeared in 116 games in 2021 with the Padres, posting a .227 batting average. He scored 33 points and drove in 39.

Severino was suspended after traces of clomiphene were detected in his body. He explained in a letter that this situation was due to taking medication to treat infertility problems and that he had not voluntarily consumed banned products.

Sullivan and Howell have never played in the major leagues.
