The administrative court of Paris condemned the State to compensate two families victims of air pollution. The children, who suffered from ENT and respiratory problems, had been forced to leave the Paris region on the advice of doctors.
Is air pollution responsible for respiratory illnesses, allergies or skin problems in some children? Many parents are convinced of this. For the first time, the State will have to compensate families: 3,000 euros for the parents of a baby hospitalized for bronchiolitis, or 2,000 euros for that of a girl suffering from repeated ear infections. All lived near the ring road. The administrative court of Paris condemns the State for not having limited the excesses in the concentration of atmospheric pollutants in Île-de-France.
Associations expect concrete measures
“We are on cases of families who had to move to save their children from pollution“, explains Me Hermine Baron, family lawyer. A victory for the associations, which are now waiting for concrete measures, such as improving air quality. The State has two months to appeal. The Ministry of Ecological Transition has launched a legal assessment of the file.
