He believes he has become a target. When on his return from a trip, the rebellious deputy Carlos Martens Bilongo consults his mailbox at the National Assembly, it is a crushing blow. “A flood of racist insults”he believes, before listing: “It’s dirty macaque, dirty nigger, go back to your banana tree, go back to Africa. It’s downright mind-blowing.” In three days, the deputy claims to have received a hundred emails with sometimes even death threats.

>> Racist remarks in the National Assembly: “I will not resign”, declares the deputy RN Grégoire de Fournas

These messages are linked, according to him, to the words of the deputy Rassemblement national, his sentence, “Let him return to Africa”, launched in the Hemicycle and especially to the treatment of the facts by certain media. “People who are on TV sets”explains Carlos Martens Bilongo, “who take the time to dissect the sentence, it with or without s, or simply ‘return it to Africa’, who take the time to know if it’s racist or not racist…”

“All this benefits the fachosphere to come, once again, to insult, stigmatize and threaten an elected representative of the Republic. It is downright endangering. These channels must stop being agitators of hatred.”
