On the evening of Friday September 2, in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Cristina Kirchner left the congress. As the Argentine vice-president returned to her vehicle, an individual suddenly pulled out a gun and tried to shoot her in the head. On a video, we hear the click of the mechanism, but the ball got stuck. Cristina Kirchner, who led the country for seven years, narrowly escaped certain death.
The alleged attacker was immediately arrested. It would be a 35-year-old Brazilian close to the far right, already known to the authorities for wearing aarmed illegal. The attack came as Cristina Kirchner faces a trial for fraud and corruption. Friday, September 2, across the country, hundreds of Argentines gathered in support of the vice-president.
