The American media group Vice Media will close its office in France by the end of March, several journalists from its French editorial staff announced on Twitter on Monday.

“Sad to write it, but it’s the end of Vice France. The office will close by the end of March “after 15 years of existence, lamented on the social network Paul Douard, editor-in-chief of the online media in France.

“No drama. Just the frustration of losing a medium with bold tone, freedom and choices. Something rare today,” lamented the journalist, referring to some “30 employees of the French office” affected by this closure.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that the American parent company has decided to end the French branch like other countries in recent years,” tweeted the head of the company section of Vice France. , Justine Reix.

Asked by AFP, the management of Vice Media did not wish to comment on its decision.

Vice, an American group that was originally a magazine, is now a multimedia platform that mainly targets an audience between 18 and 35 years old.

Created in 1994, the American group has been cutting its workforce regularly for several years, for lack of being profitable. It announced in January to be on sale.

Its leader Nancy Dubuc also announced her resignation on Friday.
