“I want to take this opportunity to say how delighted I am, while waiting to have the confirmations that I read in the press,” reacts Anne Hidalgo on Thursday October 10, during the Paris Council, after the announcement of the takeover by the Arnault family (LVMH) and Red Bull of the Paris FC football club. “This is very good news,” continues the mayor of Paris. This new shareholding “will allow the club to prosper, as is the case in many big cities”. The news must be made official on October 17.

Paris FC is “a popular Parisian club, anchored in its district with extremely successful men’s and women’s teams”, adds Anne Hidalgo. For his part, the first deputy for sports Pierre Rabadan admitted, during a tight microphone, having been put “in the confidence of the president of Paris FC Pierre Ferracci”, adding: “This is very good news for the club,
This is a very good thing for the development of Paris Football Club as a whole, of the club, its training center because there is a project which is really focused on training, but also its women’s team which is extremely efficient.”

“The men’s team has narrowly failed in recent years to move up to Ligue 1. Will it succeed? I hope as soon as possible.”

As for the new shareholders, the Arnault family (55% then 85% of the shares by 2027) and the Red Bull firm (15%), their “profile leads to possibilities for the club and a certain ambition”, explains Pierre Rabadan. “It is a club which is set to grow and which now has new possibilities, explains the chosen one. We will be happy to support them towards the best level and perhaps towards a derby next year. There has always been a lot of press on the fact of having two big clubs in Paris, we always believed that this could be the case.

The sports deputy at Paris town hall also confirmed that discussions are taking place with the Stade français rugby club concerning the shared use with Paris FC of the Jean-Bouin stadium. And therefore to leave the dilapidated Charléty stadium, in the 13th arrondissement where it is “difficult to develop an economic plan due to the lack of boxes, the very large athletics track and other factors”underlines Pierre Rabadan.

“The club was already thinking about leaving Charléty, the Jean-Bouin stadium was an option, he adds. I put the two clubs in touch, there are a number of conditions they are working on, we are involved in the discussions because sometimes they involved the participation of the city. We want this to succeed.”
