The gesture was strong, but obviously not enough for Véronique Genest… 44 years after the Islamic revolution, Iran is on fire again. This time, it is the portrait of Ayatollah Khamenei which is brandished and burned in the countries. Iranian women have been protesting for several days to demand an end to the wearing of the compulsory veil, but also the cessation of the activities of the morality police, or the immediate release of certain people recently arrested.
But this revolution has a cost, and not the least… Indeed, on September 16, the young activist Masha Amini was killed by the morality police for non-respect of the strict dress code for Iranian women. A death that only worsened the situation and increased anger in the country. Anger that spreads all over the Globe, so much so that female personalities have decided to protest too. This is why, Marion Cotillard, Angèle, Isabelle Adjani, or even Alexandra Lamy filmed themselves, in the process of cutting a lock of hair in protest.
Véronique Gen is not convinced…
The account Supportwomensiran was quick to relay the said video and accompany it with the following message: “It is impossible not to denounce again and again this terrible repression. The dead men and women are already counted by the dozens, including children. The arrests only increase the number of prisoners and prisoners already detained illegally and too often tortured. We thus decided to answer the call which was launched to us by cutting, us also, some of these locks”.
But the gesture does not seem sufficient according to Véronique Genest. Indeed, after watching the sequence, the actress took to her Twitter account to tackle the personalities who had taken a position in the video, with a touch of sarcasm. “Come on! Let’s try the zero ball? Because frankly ladies it’s good to make a gesture but compared to what these women endure, that’s where nothing…”, she lamented this Wednesday, October 5. A reaction that should again be controversial…
