Verdun | Motorist hits pedestrian and dies after fainting

A 74-year-old man died Sunday after hitting another vehicle and a pedestrian, who had to be hospitalized. The first motorist reportedly felt unwell.

The latter was traveling eastbound on Bannantyne Street when he collided with another vehicle at Brown Avenue in Verdun. He then struck a 33-year-old pedestrian, who suffered lower body injuries that are not life-threatening, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM).

“It would seem that the 74-year-old driver was unwell before the collision,” said agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the SPVM. The driver of the second vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was not injured.

An investigation is underway to better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding this collision, said agent Brabant.
