Verdun | A man rescued from the St. Lawrence River, his condition is critical

Police report that they recovered the body of a man directly from the St. Lawrence River on Wednesday evening south of Montreal. His condition is considered critical.

Around 6 p.m., authorities were alerted by witnesses who reportedly saw the body in the water. The submerged individual was recovered near De l’Eglise and LaSalle boulevards, in the borough of Verdun.

“The man was transported to a hospital center”, where there are fears for his life, said agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The SPVM does not yet have any further information concerning the identity of the person or the reasons why he was in the St. Lawrence River.
