(Caracas) L’armée du Venezuela a annoncé jeudi avoir intercepté un avion volant « avec le transpondeur éteint » et « sans autorisation », estimant qu’il était probablement « utilisé pour le trafic de drogues ».
L’armée « immobilise et met hors d’état de nuire au sol un avion en provenance de Cozumel (île du sud-est du Mexique) à Catatumbo (ouest du Venezuela). Il s’agit d’un avion bimoteur Gulfstream blanc, immatriculé V3-GRS », selon le texte posté sur le réseau social X.
« On suppose » que « l’aéronef hostile détecté par les radars vénézuéliens […] has been used by transnational groups for drug and arms trafficking,” assures the press release issued by General Domingo Hernandez Larez, head of the Strategic Operational Command.
The army shows images of the aircraft on the ground, then of the destroyed plane but gives no indication of arrests or possible seizure.
Neighboring Colombia, the world’s leading producer of cocaine, Venezuela, where numerous criminal gangs operate, is often considered a place of drug transit to the United States and Europe.
“Venezuela will not be used as a platform for drug trafficking,” assures the army.
