Vehicle falls off overpass in Pointe-Claire

It was a call to 911 on Saturday morning, around 4 a.m., which informed the emergency services of the fall of the vehicle which ended up on avenue Cardinal, near boulevard des Sources, not far from the highway. 20, in the West Island of Montreal.

The driver is an 18 year old male and the passenger is a 16 year old teenager. Both are in critical condition.

“When the police arrived on the scene, they located an unconscious man outside the vehicle. He was transported to a hospital center, ”said officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

According to the first elements of the police investigation, the vehicle was traveling in a southerly direction on Boulevard des Sources, near Avenue Donegani, when the driver lost control of the vehicle before falling from the overpass in question.

“The speed could be the cause,” explained the spokesperson for the SPVM.

This is the second time that such an accident has occurred on the viaduct of Boulevard des Sources. Last November, a 40-year-old driver fell down the overpass. He had suffered only minor injuries.
