Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone had back surgery for the second time in the past year. He will be sidelined for an indefinite period.
The operation carried out on Wednesday was successful, but it adds to the long list of physical pitfalls for the right winger.
Stone was limited to 37 games in the 2021-22 season, which was plagued by no less than seven injuries. At the end of this, in May, he underwent back surgery and was able to start the following season with his teammates. He was then placed on the disabled list again on January 12 after a duel against the Florida Panthers.
In 43 games this season, the Canadiens scored 17 goals and amassed 38 points. However, he has not reached the plateau of 70 games in a campaign since 2016-2017 when he wore the colors of the Ottawa Senators.
It’s a blow for the Golden Knights, who are fighting for a playoff spot. Bruce Cassidy’s men (29-18-4) sit third in the Pacific Division, one point behind the Los Angeles Kings.
