Numerous arrests took place throughout the week. 80 men are in fact suspected of having downloaded or shared child criminal content. At the end of police custody, 51 of them were referred.
A huge dragnet across the country. At the start of the week, 80 men were arrested, all suspected of possessing child pornography. An operation which was carried out across 53 departments, the largest ever carried out in France. Among the 80 people arrested, 51 were presented to a judge, 13 imprisoned and 38 placed under judicial supervision. Many repeat offenders and people working in contact with children are among those arrested.
Thousands of files entered
For the association “La Voix de l’enfant”, child criminals are delinquents but also patients who must be treated. “When we look for photos of children, these are sexual deviances and it is important that there is support even beyond the sentence that can be pronounced if they are tried”, declared Martine Brousse, the president. Thousands of child pornography files were seized during the operation. At least five people have already been summoned for a criminal hearing.
