LONDON | Four years after its last Vanier Cup title, the Rouge et Or did not miss its return to the grand final of Canadian university football by winning an 11th national title in a 30-24 victory over the Saskatchewan Huskies, this afternoon, at the Alumni Stadium.

The turning point of the match came at the start of the fourth quarter as the Rouge et Or threatened at the goal gate. Kevin Mital accepted the handover from his center player and threw a touchdown pass to David Dallaire late alone in the end zone. Mital had a stellar game with eight receptions and 142 yards.
This second touchdown of the game for Glen Constantin’s men allowed them to build a ten-point lead.
The Huskies responded with a touchdown moments later, but were never able to complete the comeback.
Muganda’s first touchdown
The first half was like a ping-pong game between the two teams who replied almost every time the other team scored points.

Kalenga Muganda scored the first major of his college career in the second quarter on a three-yard run. The other points came from the foot of Vincent Blanchard, perfect on his three field goals. He even offered himself a field goal of 49 yards just before halftime, the second longest of its kind in Vanier Cup history.
On the Huskies side, Everett Iverson and Rhett Vavra caught passes from Mason Nyhus for majors.
The Rouge et Or was in its 13th appearance in the grand final of Canadian university football. The Huskies lose for the eighth time in 11 appearances at the Vanier Cup.
