If Vanessa Paradis is currently excelling in the cinema with several films, she has not forgotten her first love: singing. Lily-Rose Depp’s mother is back on the musical scene, time for a duet with Étienne Daho. Invited to the microphone of RTL radio last, the singer spoke with pride about this unexpected collaboration. “It was obvious about this title. I’ve wanted to do something together for a long time. We’ve already met, she invited me on stage, we covered songs from her… But we had never sung together on an unreleased song” he declared.
The 67-year-old artist also explained that things were done very simply with Johnny Depp’s ex: “The wonderful thing about her is that I called her, I asked her if she would like to sing with me. And she said yes, without listening to the song. Total trust. It’s beautiful, right?”. And to add: “There’s a familiarity between us, really. She’s someone I really like. I really like the artist she is. I really like the person she is.”.
Vanessa Paradis reframes Yann Barthès in “Quotidien”
In full promotion of his thirteenth studio album entitled Shoot the stars at night, Étienne Daho was this Friday, September 15, 2023, on the set of the show Quotidien… alongside Vanessa Paradis in person. After talking about their duet, their host Yann Barthès did not hesitate to tease them by revealing images of an old television moment dating from 1999 during which they sang together on the title Tell him that I love him.
The host then tried to find out more about their very first meeting and Étienne Daho then revealed that it was “in a crappy TV show”. And Vanessa Paradis confirms: “It was my 16th birthday, I remember…”. The two singers then explained that the atmosphere of this filming was really chaotic to the point that Étienne Daho left the show during filming…
Enough to arouse the curiosity of Yann Barthès who on several occasions, asked which channel this famous show was broadcast on. “I don’t remember that.” replied Vanessa Paradis twice before getting annoyed: “Honestly, I don’t know… It doesn’t change anything. Frankly, we don’t care.” Étienne Daho then provided a final response to calm things down: “It was her birthday and she brought everyone a glass of champagne. It was so cute…”
