Vancouver grain workers reached a tentative agreement on Friday to end the strike, which was jeopardizing exports of canola and wheat in the midst of the harvest.
This agreement involves workers at six terminals at the Port of Vancouver. It ends a strike likely to have significant repercussions on exports from the world’s largest canola exporter and the world’s third largest wheat exporter during the harvest period.
Canadian Labor Minister Steven MacKinnon announced Friday on X that the Grain Workers’ Union and the Vancouver Terminal Elevators’ Association have reached an agreement in principle to transport the Canadian harvest to other markets.
