Vancouver | Fire that likely caused crane collapse is under control

(Vancouver) Vancouver Fire Department says it has extinguished a fire that destroyed an apartment building under construction. The blaze also damaged nine homes and appears to have caused a crane to collapse.

The fire, which broke out late Tuesday in a six-story building, spread to several neighboring houses.

Vancouver Fire Department Deputy Chief Keith Stewart says the cause of the fire and the circumstances that led to the crane collapse are still under investigation.

He said two firefighters were slightly injured.
