(Vancouver) The Vancouver Canucks will be without star goaltender Thatcher Demko in Game 2 of their Western Conference first round series against the Nashville Predators.
Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said Demko’s condition will be re-evaluated daily, and he will visit doctors again later today.
He will be replaced in front of the Canucks net by backup goaltender Casey DeSmith.
Demko, 28, turned aside 20 shots in a 4-2 victory for the Canucks in Game 1 of the series on Sunday.
Demko missed a month of activity after suffering a knee injury on March 9, but he got the start in the Canucks’ final two games of the season. He finished his campaign with a 35-14-2 record, five shutouts and a .918 save percentage.
