(Vancouver) Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy will miss six to eight weeks of play with a lower-body injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Soucy blocked a shot from Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky early in the second period of a 5-2 Canucks victory on Sunday. He did not return to the meeting.
Aged 29, Soucy is in his first season with the Canucks. The six-foot-five, 208-pound defenseman had two goals and three assists in 13 games.
The Canucks recalled defenseman Akito Hirose from their American Hockey League farm club on Tuesday while waiting to learn the nature of Soucy’s injury.
