Valérie Plante makes her tax reports available for the four years of her first term as mayor. Denis Coderre refuses to do the same.
“The distribution of my tax reports, as we do in every election, reflects the integrity and absence of conflict of interest of our team, and I invite other leaders to do the same,” said Valérie Plante, head of Projet Montréal, in a press release Sunday morning.
For his part, Denis Coderre has declared that he does not have to reveal them. “As a citizen, we sign contracts and there are confidentiality agreements. When I am elected, don’t worry, everyone will know where I worked, ”he said at a press conference on Sunday morning.
According to Robert Beaudry, candidate for the post of city councilor in the district of Saint-Jacques for Projet Montréal, Coderre must answer questions from the population and the media on his business ties over the past four years.
“The era of opacity in Montreal is over and the question of the ballot box is also a question of ethics and trust,” he added.
