A week after suffering an illness that forced her to slow down, the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, is doing better and intends to gradually resume her regular activities starting today.
“After a few days of rest, I am happy to be feeling better,” the mayor of Montreal wrote on her X account. I will gradually resume my regular activities and I thank you for your kind words. »
On December 5, Mme Plante suffered illness while holding a press conference at Montreal city hall. She was then answering questions from journalists present on site when she showed signs of fatigue and stopped speaking. She then collapsed to the ground before leaving the scene a few minutes later on foot, with the help of staff members.
Valérie Plante then had to be absent from the Ville-Marie borough council meeting last week, then from a municipal council meeting this Monday, during which the City of Montreal budget was adopted.
However, the mayor will make a first public outing since this malaise by taking part at 9 a.m. this Wednesday in the meeting of the executive committee of the City of Montreal. She will then answer questions from the media at 11:30 a.m. during a press briefing at city hall alongside the president of the executive committee, Luc Rabouin, and the vice-president of the executive committee, Benoit Dorais.
Valérie Plante will then go to Quebec this afternoon to sign the “declaration of reciprocity”, which will replace the fiscal pact uniting the cities of the province with the government of Quebec.
“I promise you that I will continue the work, with my team, to meet your needs and improve the quality of life in our beautiful metropolis,” added Ms.me Plant on X.
