Val-de-Marne referees are on strike

The whistles will stay in the locker room. According to information from the newspaper L’Equipe, the referees of Val-de-Marne have decided to boycott the end of the season. Despite their importance, in terms of promotion or relegation, the two remaining days will be refereed by volunteers from the teams playing the matches.

Several attacks in May

Of more than 500 scheduled matches, only around thirty Division 1 will be filled with men in black. With this radical decision, the Steering Committee and the Val-de-Marne Departmental Arbitration Commission are expressing their displeasure with the attacks that took place in May.

Two referees received headbutts and the third was jostled after an invasion of the pitch. The referees filed a criminal complaint.

Decision communicated to clubs in the district

The decision was adopted on Saturday morning by the steering committee of the Val-de-Marne district. It was communicated to the 193 clubs in the district on Monday evening.
