The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 begins Monday October 2. Present on the 8 Heures set, Doctor Gérald Kierzek explains why she is starting now and who she is addressing.

Monday October 2 marks the start of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19. Why now ? “It was brought forward, it was initially planned for October 17. It’s quite simply because there is viral circulation. We see it around us, there are people who are contaminated with a new variant which does not cause too many serious illnesses, but which causes viral circulation. So the objective is to protect the most vulnerable.”explains Doctor Gérald Kierzekpresent on the set of 8 Hours.

“Prioritize people most at risk”

“Everyone can get vaccinated”continues the doctor, adding however that“we really need to prioritize the people most at risk: over 65s, people with comorbidities, immunosuppression”. “When we talk about comorbidities, it is complicated high blood pressure, a state of obesity, chronic diseases, pregnant women, people dependent elderly and then everything that is has form of serious risk, and that means that it must be negotiated on a case-by-case basis with your doctor. It is your doctor who must, depending on your state of health, recommend this vaccination to you.specifies Gérald Kierzek.
