Vacation departures: which are the most stressful airports in the world?

Between flight delays, baggage problems and security checks, air travel can sometimes be more stressful than anything else when going on vacation, especially in some airports considered to be the most stressful in the world. .

This was found by visa advice website VisaGuide.World when ranking the world’s most stressful airports in 2023.

The site asked for the opinions of 1,642 air passengers of 53 different nationalities who have made at least two trips to another country in the last year.

They were notably questioned about the high number of passengers, the size of the airports, the frequency of flight delays and even the distance from the city center.

Thus, the airport that finished in first position was London Gatwick, in the United Kingdom, with a score of 52, even though it is far from being the largest in terms of surface area and number of passengers. However, it has nearly 41% of late flights and is quite far from the city center.

Next is Istanbul Airport, Turkey, with a score of 42.79, followed by Munich Airport, Germany, which obtained a score of 40.43.

In general, half of the most stressful airports are in Europe and the other half are in the United States, such as Denver (5e place) or Los Angeles (6e place).

Conversely, Asian airports, among the largest in the world, are less stressful for travelers.

No Canadian airport is found in this ranking which includes the 30 airports considered the most stressful.
