The conservative majority in the court thus concluded that Washington had exceeded its powers by wanting to impose compulsory vaccination or regular screening in American companies with at least 100 employees. More than 80 million American workers would have been affected by this public health measure.
Separately, the Supreme Court authorized nationwide mandatory vaccination of health care providers who receive federal funding from Medicare or Medicaid, potentially affecting 76,000 health care facilities, as well as home health care.
The measure provides for medical or religious exemptions.
