US Open Swimming | Summer McIntosh wins her third medal

(Greensboro) Canada’s Summer McIntosh won her third US Open medal in swimming with a silver in the women’s 200-metre backstroke on Saturday.


The Torontonian set a personal best with a time of 2 minutes and 7.15 seconds, finishing behind world champion Regan Smith. The American clocked 2:05.28.

American Josephine Fuller completed the podium, stopping the clock at 2:09.77 on the final day of competition.

McIntosh, 16, won the 400 individual medley on Friday, breaking her own Canadian and world junior records. She also took silver in the 400 freestyle on Thursday.

Ontario’s Josh Liendo also picked up his third medal of the competition on Saturday, winning silver in the men’s 100 freestyle. He clocked 48.97 seconds and finished behind Serbian Andrej Barna of Serbia (48.45). American Matt King (49.05) settled for bronze.

Liendo, 20, also won silver in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle earlier in the week.
