He held on, not without difficulty, to win his 24e title in grand slam tournaments. After a battle of three hours and 17 minutes, Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final of the United States Open in three sets of 6-3, 7-6 and 6-3.
The two attackers engaged in a constant battle. Djokovic and Medvedev were imperial from the back of the court, collecting exchanges of more than 20 shots.
But if Djokokovic managed to join Margaret Court at the top of history with 24 major titles, it is through his excellence at the net.
Medvedev started his match difficult, trailing by three games in the first set, but the Russian never gave up.
