US offers $2.5 million for arrest of cyber hacker

(Washington) The United States announced Monday that it is offering a reward of up to $2.5 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspected Belarusian hacker for spreading the Angler malware.


The announcement targeting Volodymyr Kadariya, 38, indicted in June 2023 by the American justice system, was made by the State Department in a press release.

Another Ukrainian-Belarusian national targeted by the same procedure, Maksim Silnikau, also 38, was extradited from Poland to the United States in July.

They are accused of hacking into the computers of millions of users without their knowledge between October 2013 and March 2022 by installing the Angler software, allowing cybercriminals to take control of them remotely.
