With the arrival of the summer season comes that of the upgrading of lifeguards. Lifeguards are taking part in three-day courses to be ready to save lives on the beaches this summer.
There are far fewer bathers at the other end of France, in Gravelines (Nord). At the start of the season, lifeguards must absolutely get up to speed by getting in the water. Being in good physical shape is a good start, but the key is to know how to coordinate your efforts. Last summer, more than 1,000 bathers lost their lives. This heavy toll is mainly attributed to the consequence of the various confinements.
