The four leaders of Mulhouse Olympic Natation (MON) have been answering charges of embezzlement since Wednesday, for damages estimated “in hundreds of thousands of euros”.

Since Wednesday April 10, a trial involving one of the best-known names in French swimming has been held in Mulhouse. Four members of the Horter family, leaders of Mulhouse Olympic Natation, are accused misuse of corporate assets, breach of trust, presentation of inaccurate balance sheets and concealment of these crimes.

Lionel Horter, the club’s main coach and former national technical director of the French team, was the mentor of Roxana Maracineanu, the first French world champion and former Minister of Sports. He also accompanied Amaury Leveaux, Laure Manaudou and Yannick Agnel. His brother Franck, president of the club, executive at Tyr, the equipment supplier of the French team, is also one of the accused. Like, their mother, Marie Octavie Horter and Lionel’s wife, Marjorie Horter.

The heaviest requisitions concern Franck and Lionel Horter, since the Mulhouse prosecutor’s office requested a one-year suspended prison sentence, a fine of 40,000 euros and a ten-year ban on managing a company.
